Join us to hear how the study on demographic is shaping our communities. What does the future hold? A snapshot of the changes transforming the property market Only occasionally in history do massive demographic changes combine with huge social shifts, ongoing generational transitions and unprecedented technological innovation so that within the span of a decade society altogether alters. Australia is currently in the midst of one such transformation.

The twenty first century immigrants’ experiences are quite different from the previous immigrant generation. The International Migration Report (2017) states that 3.4 percent of the world’s inhabitant population today are international migrants. It is cons tituted 258 million population is living in a country other than their country of birth (UN - DESA). In the southern hemisphere of globe, along with other continents, Asia has also emerged as one of the important regions that has been contributing large num ber of international migrants in the world.     Research on social stratification and mobility and migration studies are both interested in the issue of inequality: both research streams are indeed concerned with the analysis of the impact of birth characteristics on life chances. This workshop aims to integrate these two areas of research, promoting and encouraging the dialogue between sociologists and labour economists interested in geographical mobility. Do the mechanisms of reproduction of social inequality work differently among migrants and their descendants? Have migrants worse life opportunities net of social class? How does such penalty change among migrants with different social origin? The workshop addresses these issues encouraging contributions

The growing diversity and complexity of international migration present a need for reconceptualizing migration research. The aim of the 2019 IMISCOE Annual Conference is to facilitate exchanges in new concepts and innovative methodologies for understanding human migration in the 21st Century. We welcome proposals from various disciplines, such as political science, sociology, economics, history, law, anthropology, social work, public administration, demography, social geography, and others.      With increasing world population, new expected worldwide shares of decreasing fossil fuel energy resources, and climate change, all cities may face to serious tensions in a very near future. The EICTUS-2019 conference is proposed to bring together all the actors working on urban environment and its required resources at international scale. The project aims to share experiences and create an international dynamic to find collective solutions to environmental and social problems that are arising progressively in many cities of the world.

https://twitter.com/hashtag/ESHD2019?src=hash     In examining the interaction of population with poverty and inequality, the Panel is interested in the causal impact in both directions: poverty and inequality impacting population dynamics, and population dynamics affecting poverty and inequality. The Panel is particularly interested in low- and middle-income settings. Consideration of population dynamics addresses issues of gender, fertility, reproductive health, age structure, aging, household structure and migration. The Panel is interested in how these population dynamics interact with poverty and inequality, moving beyond the analysis of prevalence of poverty and inequality to probe differential impacts of socio-economic status across the distribution on demographic behavior as well as the consequences of demographic changes for well-being across the distribution.

The ASA 114th Annual Meeting will be held August 10-13, 2019 in New York. Approximately 600 program sessions are convened during the four-day meeting held every August to provide participation venues and networking outlets for nearly 3,000 research papers and over 4,600 presenters.  The International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) was organized in 1980 to bring together researchers, practitioners, and users of various types of impact assessment from all parts of the world. One of the unique features of IAIA is the mix of professions represented, which provides members with outstanding opportunities for interchange: to advance the state of the art and science of impact assessment in applications ranging from local to global; to develop international and local capability to anticipate, plan and manage the consequences of development; to enhance the quality of life for all.

"Global Crises and Social Policy: Coping with Conflict, Migration and Climate Change" reflects the current struggle in politics and academic scholarship to make sense of a rapidly changing world. The contexts and conditions to which social policy responds are gradually evolving due to changing societies (related to aging, migration, and so on) and living conditions affected by climate change. Furthermore, recent social policy initiatives, developments, and reforms are driven by reactions to multiple "crises", including the economic recession, the perceived "refugee crisis", care worker shortages, and the undermining of multilateralism. In many places, we can observe a (re)focus on national interests, particularly concerning the treatment of nationals versus non-nationals in social assistance and social protection, and the control of migration   Regular Conference strands (the research topics BSPS uses to organize the call for papers) may include ageing; ethnicity & religion; families & households; fertility & reproductive health; health & mortality; the life course; historical demography; innovative data, methods & models; local & small area demography; migration & mobilities; posters. Ideas for innovative themes within strands may also be suggested, when they would be integrated into the suggested topics under each strand in the call for papers. These might focus on a particular methodological or substantive topic or a specific data set, but would only lead to a session within a strand if sufficient papers on the topic were submitted.

                                                                                2020

Following the success of TAGC 2016—a multi-community meeting of more than 3,000 attendees from more than 40 countries—we are excited to announce that TAGC 2020 will take place April 22–26, 2020, in the Washington, DC metro area at the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor. This outstanding venue offers many amenities with excellent nearby dining options for all budgets. It’s just 8 miles from Capitol Hill and the historic sights of downtown DC and is served by three different airports. We’re designing the meeting to encourage conversations between groups, and we’re also planning ways to make it easy for each community to stay connected. In response to the clear preference of TAGC 2016 participants surveyed (87%) for more topic-driven programming that spans community boundaries, there will be a roughly even split between community-specific sessions and community-spanning sessions. The meeting will also offer a wide range of professional and community development initiatives, including events serving early career scientists and those with interests in policy and advocacy, publishing, education, and more.     The 30th Population Census Conference will be held in the second week of June 2020 (June 10-12, 2020) in Mongolia. By 1963, when the first Asian Population Conference met in New Delhi, the number of scholars with active interest in population had become quite sizable. The large group of Indian participants who had gathered in New Delhi for this Conference had in their informal discussions expressed the need for a professional organization of Indian demographers like those operating in several social science disciplines like economics, sociology, geography, statistics, history, etc. This need was more forcefully reiterated in 1969 at the informal meeting of the Indian demographers which was held in London at the time of the General Conference of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population.
